The new motion poster (or “moster” if you will) for Wonder Woman 1984 is a psychedelic vision straight out of the 1980s. The garish colors and VHS glitches signal a deep immersion into life and tropes in the “Greed Decade.”
Warner Bros. Pictures dropped the new poster for Wonder Woman 1984 via the film’s Twitter account. The movie arrives in theaters on June 5 provided COVID-19 doesn’t continue to push back every damn good thing on planet Earth (e.g. No Time to Die, Mulan, The New Mutants, and the list goes on.)

Wonder Woman’s (Gal Gadot) golden armor isn’t for a gaudy fashion show. The golden eagle armor has appeared in several of Wonder Woman stories in the comic universe. It’s her war armor, so that begs the question, what war is she fighting? The trailer sets up Pedro Pascal’s character Maxwell Lord to be the big bad in movie, but he seems hardly worth donning her war armor. It’s not like she needed it to beat down the Nazis.
BTW, did you know Pedro Pascal was cast as Ed Indelicato in the unaired pilot for the cancelled 2011 TV series Wonder Woman? This is a few years before his role as Oberyn Martell in the fourth season of Game of Thrones, which launched his acting career into the big leagues.
Perhaps it has to do with The Cheetah/Barbara Ann Minerva (Kristen Wiig). Maybe Diana needs just a little more armor to deal with those supernatural claws.
Chris Pine returns as Steve Trevor in Wonder Woman 1984, as well as Robin Wright as Antiope, probably in a flash back since she died in the last Wonder Woman film. Connie Nielsen also returns as Hippolyta, Queen of Themyscira and Diana’s mum.
Let’s hope the Amazonian warriors can defeat the evil COVID-19 so Wonder Woman 1984 will arrive as planned on June 5.
