Bill and Ted will be time-traveling to streaming services and select theaters a week early. It was just announced that Bill and Ted Face the Music will be released on August 28 instead of September 1 as planned.
Bill and Ted’s third film was originally scheduled for theatrical release on August 21, 2020, but due to the COVID pandemic, the date was moved around until Orion Pictures decided on September 1. However, Alex Winter posted the good news via Twitter this morning.
Great news my excellent friends! @BillandTed3 is moving up a full week to release on August 28! On demand and in select theaters in the U.S.! 🎸🎸🤟🔥 pic.twitter.com/1E00FREhQN

The film will be provided to any theater in the United States that is actually open, which isn’t many. The film will get a wider distribution internationally as many countries have COVID spread mostly under control so most international theaters are open (with social distancing likely).
DAUGHTERS TO THE RESCUE
This time around the story focuses on Bill and Ted and their two daughters. Winter reprises his role as William “Bill” S. Preston, Esq. and Keanu Reeves as Theodore “Ted” Logan. Ted’s daughter, Wilhelmina “Billie” Logan, is played by Brigette Lundy-Paine. Bill’s daughter, Theodora “Thea” Preston, is played by Samara Weaving.
William Sadler is back as the Grim Reaper, and George Carlin returns (posthumously) as Rufus via creative use of archival footage.
Here’s the official description for Bill and Ted Face the Music:
The stakes are higher than ever for the time-traveling exploits of William “Bill” S. Preston Esq. and Theodore “Ted” Logan. Yet to fulfill their rock and roll destiny, the now middle aged best friends set out on a new adventure when a visitor from the future warns them that only their song can save life as we know it. Along the way, they will be helped by their daughters, a new batch of historical figures, and a few music legends to seek the song that will set their world right and bring harmony in the universe.
PRICING
No word yet on how much Bill and Ted Face the Music will cost to rent. We suspect it will follow the pricing of other previous major releases to digital at $19.99. This is reasonable considering most theater tickets are in the $10+ range. For a family of three or more, this is a good deal. We still miss going out to the movies though. 😢
Be excellent to each other and rent Bill and Ted Face the Music on August 28. [insert air guitar here]
