Disney+ just dropped a short-form series of meditative videos called Zenimation that feature video clips and atmospheric sounds from Disney animated flicks. Disney Animation Studio’s Zenimation series has 10 episodes ranging from 4-7 minutes for the first season.
I watched all 10 episodes and found Zenimation to be the ultimate Zen experience for Disney fans, expect for maybe watching the Electrical Water Pageant at Disney World. The video vignettes are stripped of the audio soundtrack except for atmospheric sounds such as water splashing, birds calls, the creaking of a ship at sea, footsteps in a jungle — you get the idea.
I felt mentally rejuvenated after watching the videos. I had to resist the urge to sink back into my couch and take a nap. Each video in Disney’s Zenimation series has a special theme. My favorite was the last episode in the series, “Levity,” which included humorous scenes from various Disney movies.
Watching “Levity” was basically an ASMR experience featuring fun and happy clips with only background sounds like Tigger and Roo hopping through the woods, the sound of a “dinglehopper” brushing through Ariel’s hair, and Baymax deflating to fit through a window.
Disney’s Zenimation series was created and edited by David Bess, an editor at Walt Disney Animation Studios.
Here’s the official synopsis from Disney:
Unplug, relax, and refresh your senses for a moment of mindfulness with Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Zenimation. Whether it’s baby Moana being called by the ocean, Anna and Kristoff walking through an icy forest, or Baymax and Hiro Hamada flying over San Fransokyo, these iconic scenes become an aural experience like no other with the sounds of ocean waves, an icy forest and soaring flight.
