New Star Trek: Picard Trailer Drops

We only have a month to wait until Star Trek: Picard drops on CBS All Access on Jan. 23, but the good folks at CBS wants to give us another taste of their series with a new trailer.

The trailer starts ominously with a stern Picard saying “I’ve been haunted by my past, but now I have a mission. I will do what needs to be done.”

We’re not sure from the clip who he’s talking to, but the next person we see Picard talking to is Jeri Ryan’s Seven of Nine/Annika Hansen, who asks Picard, “Who are you looking for.” Picard responds, “Someone who has no one else to help her.” As his voiceover continues, we see Dahj (played by Isa Briones) battling for her life against a masked assailant.

The rest of the video plays out with a quick sequence of action scenes. Then ending with Jonathan Frakes as Will Riker asking Picard, “What have you gotten yourself into Jean-Luc?” Picard gives him a chuckle in response.

This trailer is definitely more focused on the adventure and action of the new series than previous trailers that were more focused on Picard’s updated backstory, which takes place 20 years after the events of Star Trek: Nemesis.

Patrick Stewart, in addition to starring in the series, will serve as Executive Producer. Joining his new adventures are Santiago Cabrera, Michelle Hurd, Evan Evagora, Alison Pill, Harry Treadaway, and Isa Briones. The show will also feature Star Trek alum reprising their roles. So far we know that Jonathan Frakes, Brent Spiner, Jeri Ryan, and Marina Sirtis will appear on the show. We’ll have to wait until 2020 to find out how much screen time each gets.

CBS has already given the second season of Star Trek: Picard the green light for 10 episodes, same as the first season. They must feel confident they have a winner. That’s good news for us!
