Star Wars Battlefront 2 is getting one last major update. The biggest update is the addition of the Scarif map. That’s right. The popular map from Star Wars Battlefront 1 is back!
EA dropped the update on April 29 with a slew of features including a growing list of Supremacy mode maps set in the Age of Rebellion: Scarif, Hoth, Death Star II, Yavin 4, and Tatooine. Also, Co-Op mode is being renamed Co-Op Missions and will now include Scarif, as well as the MC85 Star Cruiser and Resurgent-Class Star Destroyer as standalone locations.
Instant Action mode is being expanded with all the maps from Co-Op. Instant Action uses the concept as Co-Op, but it allows a player to play offline with three AI bots as allies (instead of online players) against the enemy AI bots.
Star Wars Battlefront 2 is also getting new appearances. Starting with the addition of Shoretrooper and rebel forces variations from Scarif, we’re also getting a new Darth Maul appearance featuring his robotic legs from the animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Then from Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, players can choose from a “Rey Skywalker” appearance for Rey, “Sith Eternal” for Grandpa Palps, and a new appearance for Kylo featuring him wearing his hood up. Kylo’s appearance update is a bit lacking, but the other updates look great.
There are a number of smaller updates to Battlefront 2 like Damage Increase Messaging, new Heroes vs. Villains location, new HUD options, and hero changes. You can peruse all the new changes in the Star Wars Battlefront 2 Community Transmission. This update isn’t as massive as the last update to Star Wars Battlefront 2 in January, but it’s still a good update.
This will be the last major update to Battlefront 2. The game servers will keep rocking for years to come for players, but it’s sad to see the game updates wind down. Battlefront 2 started out horribly wrong with EA’s miscalculations on players’ desire to buy loot boxes after already shelling out major bucks for the game. However, EA allowed the DICE team to fix the unforced errors and turn Battlefront 2 into an amazing game. Nice job, DICE!
