The Inuyasha sequel Yashahima: Princess Half-Demon just got a full trailer, a release date, an official synopsis, and new character art! The much-anticipated next chapter of the beloved anime will premiere Oct. 3, 2020, as announced by Viz Media, the U.S. anime distributor. The series will follow the daughters of Inuyasha and Sesshomaru.
Here’s the series synopsis provided by Viz:
The anime stars Towa and Setsuna, the twin daughters of Sesshomaru who get separated in a forest fire. Towa ends up in modern times and is raised by Sota Higurashi, Kagome’s little brother. Ten years later, they are reunited, but Setsuna is a demon slayer with no memories of her sister. Joined by Moroha, Inuyasha and Kagome’s daughter, they set off on an adventure to regain their missing past.
RELEASE DATE
Warp Gate News reported the breaking news about Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon becoming a new anime series in May. And now the series will premiere just six months later, which is the opposite of most anime series in the age of COVID. It’s remarkable that anime production company Sunrise is able to turn around the series so quickly.
We anticipate that, while the Yashahime will broadcast Oct. 3, fans waiting for an English dub will need to be patient. The Japanese voice actors have been selected and are probably already in studio recording their parts. However, the COVID situation is out of control in the United States, making it difficult to get voice actors into the studio.
Also, Viz didn’t specify the dates of international distribution. Warp Gate News assumes Yashahime will simulcast (or drop within 24 hours) in North America when the series is broadcast in Japan. This has become the standard for most popular anime series on streaming services like Crunchyroll and Funimation.
NEW CHARACTER ART
Viz also showed off new artwork for the three primary characters: Towa, Setsuna, and Moroha. We saw earlier rough sketches back in March. Now, we have fully fleshed-out character designs, which deliver the classic Inuyasha stylings combined with a fresh new look.
