Disney is releasing Frozen 2 three months early and will be available on their streaming service Disney+ starting Sunday, March 15. Many media outlets are incorrectly reporting Frozen 2 will be available on Saturday. Don’t bother checking Disney+ until Sunday because it ain’t there.
Many articles are praising Disney for releasing Frozen 2 early to help take the edge (and anxiety of many parents) off being sequestered at home due to many Earth-based school districts closing for the next couple weeks and businesses switching to work from home situations. Disney should be praised for doing this.
We also believe Disney sees a rare opportunity to get more customers hooked on their Disney+ service. American households have essentially become a captive audience until the COVID-19 crisis has passed. Disney is a business and we don’t fault them for seeing an opportunity here. Anyway, we can’t believe there are still people who haven’t signed up for Disney+ yet.
Frozen 2 is the highest grossing animated film ever. It earned $1.4 billion globally in theaters. Directed by Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee, and produced by Peter Del Vecho, the team that helmed the first Frozen box office giant, returned for Frozen 2. In the music department, the brilliant songwriters Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, and composer Christophe Beck also returned to deliver amazing songs for the Frozen 2 soundtrack.
The Walt Disney Animation Studios film stars Idina Menzel, Kristen Bell, Josh Gad, Jonathan Groff, along with Evan Rachel Wood, Sterling K. Brown, Ciarán Hinds, Alfred Molina, Martha Plimpton, Jason Ritter(Dipper from Gravity Falls), Rachel Matthews, and Jeremy Sisto.
Frozen 2 is a wonderful family movie and we look forward to watching it this Sunday, March 15. We just hope Disney’s servers don’t blow up with everyone trying to watch Frozen 2 at the same time.
