Sneak Peek at Star Wars Hotel at Disney World

In a galaxy far, far away called Orlando, Florida, Star Wars fans can live out their dreams in the new Star Wars hotel at Disney World. The “Galactic Starcruiser” is a three-day, two-night immersive trip on a “starship” into the world of Star Wars. The name of the starship is actually the “Halcyon.”

The starship is aptly named because the word, according to the Oxford Dictionary, means “Denoting a period of time in the past that was idyllically happy and peaceful.” We can think of no happier time than traveling aboard a starcruiser in the Star Wars universe “a long time ago.”

The hotel will open in 2021, and Disney says reservations will open up sometime later this year. Make sure you’ve got a high credit limit on your card because this is going to cost you an appendage or two. The rumored price for the Star Wars hotel experience is $3,300 per person. A cabin that sleeps five is rumored to run $7,200.

This will make the Star Wars hotel the most expensive hotel in Disney World. The price may be steep, but it’s not surprising since guests will be completely immersed from check-in to check-out. The food, workers, rooms, scenery, and experiences will be all Star Wars, all the time, from stem to stern.

“Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser is a completely new type of experience,” said Ann Morrow Johnson, Executive Producer for Walt Disney Imagineering. “You’re going to live onboard a star cruiser … and you can get wrapped up in the larger Star Wars story.”

The level of immersion is crazy. Guest rooms will have “windows” to see stars flying past. Tours of the bridge will feature large “windows” to view space, planets, and battles.

There are also amenities that a space traveler would expect such as a light saber training, “out-of-this-world” drinks served by other species in the Silver C Lounge, and a shopping trip to the tourist trap of Black Spire Outpost on the planet Batuu. We expect these details are the tip of the space iceberg. We’ll do a follow-up story once Disney reveals more.
