BB-8 and BB-9E are coming to Star War Battlefront II this week! The BB-series astromechs will be “rolling” out this week when game developer DICE drops the latest update. The previous update in December featured The Rise of Skywalker DLC with new reinforcements, location, and hero appearances.
The January update will bring us two new playable heroes in the forms of BB-8 and BB-9E. We don’t have much information yet, but we know they’ll be “support” heroes, which makes sense because we can’t see BB-8 taking down Kylo Ren or Darth Vader. It’s doubtful they’ll be playable in the Heroes and Villains modes. We’ll know more about their special abilities once the DLC goes live.
A new Capital Supremacy map is also part of the January update.
DICE is currently running a “Night Ops” community event with all modes running a “Dark Mode” map rotation from Jan. 24-27. Additionally, the assault modes will have fast spawns activated, which we really enjoyed during the “Fast Spawns” community event on Jan. 10-13.
Battlefront II has come a long way in two years. The game EA first gave players was an insulting cash-grab. Thankfully, EA learned their lesson from the player backlash, and let DICE work hard over the next two years to make Battlefront II so much fun to play.
We’re looking forward to taking BB-8 and BB-9E out for a spin this week. Let us know in the comments what you think of the January update when it arrives.
