Crunchyroll and HBO Max Team Up on Anime Deal

HBO Max and Crunchyroll formed a partnership to bring a shirtload of anime to the new HBO streaming service launching on May 27. At HBO Max’s launch, there will be 17 popular anime series to watch. The list is extensive and awesome. See the bottom of the article for the full list.

The new streaming network will offer all of HBO’s programming — plus a lot more. HBO Max will offer original content like four new Adventure Time specials and a reboot of The Boondocks. The streaming network will also include content from parent company WarnerMedia Entertainment including shows from TBS, TNT, TruTV, CNN, Cartoon Network, and Adult Swim. HBO Max will have 2,000 movies on demand at launch.

The announcement by Crunchyroll ups HBO Max’s game even further.

“The HBO brand is known for premiere content and innovative storytelling,” said Joanne Waage, General Manager for Crunchyroll. “By bringing series from Crunchyroll to HBO Max, we hope to introduce anime to a wider audience who appreciates compelling stories told through this dynamic medium. Together with HBO Max, we are delivering the maximum reach for these incredible anime series, and we can’t wait for new fans to fall in love with anime.”

ANIME, ANIME, AND MORE ANIME

In addition to the initial 17 anime series at launch, the Crunchyroll content team will curate new anime titles each quarter. Later this year, they will be bringing more shows including Hunter x Hunter and Death Note.
