Disney created a new line of face masks branded with characters and patterns from Star Wars, Marvel, Pixar, princesses, and classic Disney characters. The Disney face masks are available for pre-order now and come as a four-pack. The target ship date was June but has shot to mid-July due to a massive amount of early orders. If you want to order a pack of Disney face masks from Shop Disney, you should do it right away.
Let’s face it, getting kids (and some adults) to wear masks is difficult. You don’t need to be a parent to know this. Just look at parents with kids at the grocery store trying to keep their younglings from pulling off their face masks, let alone keep them from licking surfaces. So Disney came up with this solution.
“We realize this is a challenging time for families and wearing any type of mask can be daunting,” Edward Park, Senior Vice President for the Disney Store and Shop Disney, said in a statement. “Our hope is that Disney’s cloth face masks featuring some of our most beloved characters will provide comfort to the families, fans and communities that are so important to us.”
And Disney isn’t do this just to rake in a profit (which they probably will anyhow). The House of Mouse is donating one million of the cloth face masks to underserved communities across the United States. The Disney face masks will be distributed by MedShare, a nonprofit humanitarian aid organization that delivers surplus medical supplies and equipment to communities around the world.
Disney is also donating all profits from the U.S. sales of the cloth face masks to Medshare (up to $1 million through Sept. 30, 2020.)
The Disney cloth face masks come in small, medium, and large sizes. They are available in six different patterns. And, yes, the Star Wars mask pack comes with “The Child” (aka Baby Yoda), as well as R2-D2 and two Star Wars patterns.
The four-pack of Disney masks retail for $19.99 on the Shop Disney website. On the website, Disney also includes instructions on how to wash, put on, and take off face masks to reduce the chance of spreading COVID-19. They also have a disclaimer worth reading about the medical effectiveness of cloth face masks. Essentially, cloth masks will help reduce the chance of spreading COVID-19, but it’s not an N95 surgical mask. So use the masks with care.
